Locking Park throw away a 2 goal advantage

Locking Park threw away a two goal advantage twice to draw to Sporting Weston at home.

The first half was an even affair. The first goal came when Ross Radford ran down the right and smashed a cross-cum-shot which looped into the top left hand corner. Locking were lucky to be ahead but still pushed on and Rory Atkins should’ve made it two till. A Ryan Harris long ball found Jack Poole squared to Rory Atkins who scuffed his effort back to the retreating keeper.

It was then Sporting’s turn to put on the pressure and stand-in keeper Michael Bollard did well with two decent saves to keep Locking in it. Although the away team got the equaliser when a corner avoided everyone and their striker tapped in at the back post.

Park started well in the second and striker Atkins redeamed himself controlling a cross from Jack Poole beautifully to bring down and smash past the Sporting keeper. Park then got a third when a Ryan Harris corner went in off a away defender.

Sporting then came back when Havard smashed a shot which was well saved by Bollard, but a Sporting forward came in to chip him before he couldn’t stand up. Locking’s turn to press and after a Sommers and Harris one-two Rory Atkins went one-on-one and beat the away keeper to make it 4-2

Late in the game Locking looked comfortable but Sporting pushed on and forced a corner 20 minutes to go which ended with captain Dan Windsor losing his man and leaving an easy header for 4-3. Soon after Sporting got the equaliser after a another corner defensive mishap ended with a Sporting forward hitting the ball through a crowd into the net.

Park will be disappointed with a game that should’ve been put to bed early on against a side in the same position in the league. Special mentions to Michael Bollard for an inspired game in goal, Somers for playing out of position for the third game in a row. C. Erison Man of the Match went to Ryan Harris for end-to-end running and 100% effort.
