Park go out on penalties to Portishead Caledonian Thistle

Locking Park unlucky to lose in the Knockout Cup on penalties against Portishead Caledonian Thistle.

The game started well for Park with Ash Towler scoring from outside the box after some good work by Chris Green and Ryan Harris. The home side then showed why they were at the top of the league with Locking – scoring twice in quick succession and another before half time to go into the break 3-1 up.

Park were not beaten though and started after the break the quicker. Aidan Dancer made it 3-2 when he was found by another pin-point Ash Towler pass and sliding the ball passed the oncoming keeper. Locking never gave up and in the last few moments a goal mouth scramble in the Portishead box saw Ollie Boyd poke the ball in to force extra time.

Extra time was an even affair meaning the game had to be decided by penalties. There was no sign of nerves and both sides scored the first 5 penalties – Locking Park keeper Matt Huxtable unlucky not to save the first, getting a hand to it but it wasn’t enough to stop the ball. The game was decided in the second round of sudden-death, Aidan Dancer the unfortunate player to have his penalty saved and giving victory to Portishead.

After another stand-out performance, Ollie Boyd was Man of the Match.
