Park Reserves go 7 unbeaten!

Park extended their unbeaten run to 7 games in all competitions with a hard fought win over a testing AFC Nailsea side in sweltering heat.

Park struggled to start the game well and were needlessly giving away possession, which gave Nailsea confidence. Neither side really created anything clear cut, Park having a couple of half chances from corners. Nailsea took the lead after Park gave the ball away under no pressure and were then in a good position. With half time looming, and Park in trouble, Kyle Hobden picked the ball up and from fully 35 yards trownced an unstoppable shot into the top corner to earn Park an undeserved equaliser.

Park regrouped and were a more effective force in the second half, in what was still a fairly even game. With 20 minutes to go the game turned on a major refereeing decision. Craig Baird was taken out by a Nailsea defender when clean through on goal, the referee awarded a penalty and sent off the Nailsea player. Matt Hollow stepped up to dispatch the spot kick, 2-1 Park.

Nailsea to their credit kept going with 10 men trying to fashion an equaliser but it wasn’t to be. Park had the unusual luxury of three subs, all of whom made a positive contribution as well as being fresh legs in the unbearable heat.

Man of the match went to Kyle Hobden for a fantastic goal that dragged park back into the match.
